DAC means analog digital converter. In a nutshell, a DAC converts digital information into its origin device (your computer, game console, tablet or smartphone phone) in music that we can listen through speakers or headphones.

Each device that is a digital sound source has an incorporated DAC. External DACs sound much better than standard DACs that are used within these devices.

Listening is believing

The IFI Zen Air Dac issues very high resolution audio (high resolution). This is much better than the standard audio that would simply get your computer, game console, tablet or smartphone phone.

Simply better

The IFI Zen Air DAC works as a DAC and a headphones amplifier. It is a great first step if you are just beginning your audiophile trip.

Simply connect it to your computer or smart device through a USB cable. Then, connect it to your headphones through the headphones connector in the front or the speakers through the RCA connections on the back.

If you already have an integrated amplifier, you can use the IFI Zen Dac Air as a pure DAC with its integrated amplifier or with its active speakers.

Compatibility flexibility with all kinds of formats

The IFI Zen Air Dac admits different file formats: 32 -bit PCM/384 KHz, DSD256 and MQA completely native.

• PCM: Pulse code modulation is the file format used in CD, DVD, Blu-ray and other digital audio applications. It is the next step from MP3.
• DSD: Direct Stream Digital is a very high quality audio format, better than the quality of CD. The higher the number (sampling frequency), the better the recording: DSD64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024. Fully native means that it has not altered in any way with respect to the original recording.
• MQA: Master Quality Authenticated is an award -winning audio technology that allows music fans to transmit the original master recording in their home, car or mobile device. With Ifi Zen Air Dac you can listen to MQA directly from the first moment. Simply connect to Tidal Masters and mark the option to transmit MQA.

Sound adjusted to the taste of each user

The Zen Air Dac also has a pair of unique IFI sound settings.
The PowerMatch system adjusts the gain of the Zen Dac Air to work at the right level for its headphones. The gain is only a unit of measure that indicates the volume of an audio source and is measured in decibels (dB).

XBBASS+ allows you to customize the serious ones to adapt to your headphones and to your personal liking.
Both are designed to improve and customize their auditory experience.

And breathe ...

Most DAC still use digital volume control: ours is analog.

What does this mean? When it reduces the volume in other DAC, it eliminates data from the song or the soundtrack. With analog volume control, it reduces volume maintaining quality.

XMOS Chip 16x

The 16 -nuclei XMOS chip processes the audio data received through the USB digital input.

This new low latency microcontroller has a very improved processing power. Compared to the current generation of eight -core chips, this new 16 -core IC offers twice as a clock speed (2000 mips) and four times the memory (512 KB), as well as the last SUPERSPEED USB standard standard.

IFI's internal digital development team has programmed the XMOS firmware to optimize sound quality and guarantee a perfect association with the Burr-Brown DAC.

Burr-Brown Multibit

The Burr-Brown True Native® chips as a whole means that the file formats remain unchanged or "perfected in bits." This means that he is listening to music as conceived by the artist in the format in which he was recorded.

In Ifi we use the Burr Brown chip widely in our products, since we select it for its "musical" natural sound and its True Native architecture. Our experience with this IC means that we know how to make the most of it.

MQA format

Listen to authenticated audio of master quality directly from the first moment. Connect to Tidal Masters and mark the option to transmit MQA.

MQA is an award -winning audio technology that allows music fans to transmit the original master recording to their home, car or mobile device. In the words of Gilbert O'Sullivan, iconic singer -songwriter born in Ireland: “The best thing about MQA is that it provides the delicacy in the desktop sound. It's tremendous, it sounds very good. ”

Operational amplifier

As with many other IFI audio products, we have incorporated a personalized operational amplifier of the OV series. This first level component contributes to extremely low noise, low distortion (0.0001%) and wide bandwidth.

Integrated Texas Instruments Circuits

Integrated Texas Instructed Integrated Instruments circuits offer a large unitary gain band, noise and very low distortion, high output control capacity, common mode and rejection relationships of the power supply of more than 100 dB, wide Maximum output oscillation band and high response speeds.

TDK capacitors

TDK C0G conders (class 1 ceramic) offer high stability and low losses for resonant circuit applications.

More and more approaching the theoretical ideal of pure constant frequency, these capacitors reduce distortion induced by the condenser to extremely low levels.

They are expensive, but they are a perfect complement to our products.
