All devices that act as digital sound sources use a built-in DAC (digital to analog converter) to convert the digital information on your source device (your computer, tablet, or smartphone) into music that you can listen to through speakers or headphones. . External DACs sound much better than the standard DACs used inside these devices.

Imagine the difference in quality between a standard TV and an 8K Ultra HD TV, but in sound! This is the difference an external DAC makes to your music.

The one you want

Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the iFi Uno's cute, curvaceous case is made from a durable, mineral-filled polymer. Inside, the sophisticated DAC circuit and headphone amplifier will upgrade basic audio technology in all types of digital devices.

Connect the iFi Uno via the USB Type-C input to your Windows PC, Apple Mac, smartphone or tablet. It does not need a power source as it receives power and audio data from the source it is connected to.

Add headphones, powered speakers, or a built-in amplifier and separate passive speakers and you'll have what you've always wanted: bigger, bolder, more detailed sound.

A simple device. Three unique modes.

  • Music mode unlocks detailed, engaging sound from all your favorite artists. Listen while you work.
  • Movie mode improves dialogue clarity when streaming must-watch movies and TV shows. Never miss a moment.
  • Game mode makes low-level sound effects crisp. Always listen to your enemies coming and the storms gathering.

Simply use the button on the front panel to cycle through the three settings. The illuminated logos on the top of the iFi Uno indicate the chosen mode.

 

One, two, high resolution

The iFi Uno supports different file formats: PCM 32-bit/384 kHz, DSD256 and fully native MQA.

  • PCM - Pulse Code Modulation is the file format used in CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray and other digital audio applications. It is the next step from MP3.
  • DSD: Direct Stream Digital is a very high quality audio format, better than CD quality. The higher the number (sample rate), the better the recording: DSD64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024. Fully native means that it has not been altered in any way from the original recording.
  • MQA: Master Quality Authenticated is an award-winning audio technology that allows music fans to stream the original master recording in their home, car or mobile device. With the iFi Uno you can listen to MQA directly from the first moment. Simply connect to Tidal Masters and check the option to stream MQA.

 

The DAC is the key

The iFi Uno draws on our ten years of experience and the advanced specification of the DAC chip it contains to unlock high-end features that are rarely implemented.

Adjustable analogue gain with DRE (Dynamic Range Enhancement) plus technologies to minimize THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and crosstalk and a selection of digital filters can be accessed via front panel buttons allowing you to adjust the iFi Uno sound to your liking.

In short, whether you simply use the Mode features or decide to play more, the iFi Uno will make your audio sound clearer, minimize any interference, and simply give you a better entertainment experience across the board.

 

Awesome analog circuit

The iFi Uno's analog circuitry is as vital to the "supercharged" sound quality it provides as its digital technology.

The headphone amplifier feeds a 3.5mm minijack connector on the front, which features iFi's S-Balanced setup to reduce noise and crosstalk. The stereo RCA output on the rear also benefits from our ability to deliver high-quality audio circuitry in remarkably affordable devices.

All analog outputs are gold plated to resist corrosion and maintain conductivity over time.

Most DACs still use digital volume control; ours is analog. Why is this special? When you reduce the volume on other DACs, you delete data from the song or soundtrack. With the analog volume control, reduce the volume while maintaining quality.

And finally, there's PowerMatch - this ensures you always have the right amount of power to control the headphones you're using.

Jitter Elimination Technologies

DRE Dynamic Range Enhancement

In music production, dynamic range means the difference between the loudest and softest sounds. It is measured in decibels, or dB for short. In a single audio track, dynamic range means the difference in dB between the highest and lowest moment of the audio file.

You can think of a system's dynamic range as the space between the noise floor and the clipping point. When a sound drops below the noise floor, you will not be able to tell the difference between the signal and the noise of the media system. When a sound exceeds the clipping point, the top of its waveform will be abruptly cut off, causing harshness and distortion.

iFi's patented technology expands the dynamic range by 6 dB or more, for a better listening experience.

 

S-Balanced Performance

iFi's exclusive S-Balanced circuitry delivers maximum performance from both XLR and single-ended balanced headphones, especially for balanced in-ear headphones.

 

TDK Capacitors

TDK C0G (Ceramic Class 1) capacitors offer high stability and low losses for resonant circuit applications.

Increasingly closer to the theoretical ideal of pure constant frequency capability, these capacitors reduce capacitor-induced distortion to extremely low levels.

They are expensive, but they are a perfect complement to our products.

 

Murata Capacitors

MuRata control type high Q, low ESR multilayer capacitors. The "ESR control" aspect of the Murata is something special. Its noise suppression capabilities are impressive.
